Mysteries of the Metaphysical
April 10, 2025
“The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it Intuition or what you will, the solution comes to you and you don't know how or why."
~ Albert Einstein
If you’re in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area this weekend, you have a wonderful opportunity to peek behind the curtain of many things metaphysical. I’m referring of course to the Body Mind Spirit Expo (aka Victory of Light) held at the Sharonville Convention Center (April 12-13, 2025).
You’ll find hundreds of holistic practitioners at the Cincinnati region’s largest and finest metaphysical convention, and several free seminars to choose from. If you go I hope you’ll stop by my booth - # 818 - for a mini-reading; this spring I’m offering clairvoyant mediumship or past life readings. And please join me for my free presentation, Everyday Intuition, where I will lead participants to explore their natural intuitive abilities and receive insights into their own lives.

Beyond the veil
And if you’re anywhere near Lily Dale, New York, this summer, you have a full ten weeks to explore at your leisure the deep recesses behind the curtain and perhaps even beyond the veil that is thought to separate this life and the afterlife. In this case I’m referring to the Lily Dale Assembly’s Summer Camp Season, (June 20-August 31, 2025).
If you visit Lily Dale you’ll have several opportunities to engage with me: at one of my three workshops, in a private mediumship reading with me, or on the grounds serving at Lily Dale’s outdoor message demonstrations, afternoon lectures in the auditorium, and healing services at the healing temple.
Mysterious metaphysics
Not everyone believes it is possible to see behind the curtain or beyond the veil, but we can all agree that it’s an innate human desire to understand our relationship with the universe: Why am I here? How do I fit in? What’s my role?
We are living in an era that brings to the forefront this innate desire: prophecies from spiritual traditions around the globe seem to fit the times, recent discoveries of ancient artifacts have been turning science on its ear, and an astounding number of esoteric teachings have been revealed to the uninitiated. Again we may ask: Why am I here? How do I fit in? What’s my role?

Touchstone for truth
A spiritual seeker is a seeker of truth. Many believe there are absolute truths to be found. But every one of us is at a disadvantage because we are wired to interpret and categorize everything we perceive so that it makes sense within our current world views and belief systems.
And that’s okay. It puts the responsibility for discerning the truth on ourselves, where it belongs. The problem is, many people aren’t ready to accept personal responsibility, and even those of us who are ready may not be confident in their abilities to discern the truth or what is right to do.
A touchstone is a stone used in ancient times to test the purity of metals like gold and silver by observing the color and hardness of the streak left after rubbing the metal against it. And each of us is equipped with an internal touchstone for the truth: our intuition.

Using your intuition
Intuition is inner wisdom that comes from your higher self. Sometimes it gives directions obviously and loudly, but more often it is perceived as a quiet voice within or a passing thought that we can easily miss. You can cultivate your intuition in many ways, and I will close with two of my favorites.
Question of the Day. First thing each morning ask yourself – that is, your higher self – “What’s important for me to know at this time?” And pay attention to the first thing that comes to your awareness. It may be a direct answer or it may be something seemingly unrelated (like a color, an obscure sound, a body part) but pay attention anyway. You can ask for additional information: “Show me more,” or “What else?”
Even if it doesn’t make immediate sense, jot it down in a notebook or journal, and set an intention to remain aware for insights to come during the remainder of the day. Or perhaps it will make sense later, especially with a response that repeats itself over multiple days, or if there seems to be a theme emerging.
Standing Date with Your (Higher) Self. This is a once-weekly, hour-long, solo date. Use it to nurture your relationship with your higher self. It can be a recurring activity at the same day and time each week, or you can vary things.
Suggestions: Relax in a hammock or a luxurious bath, and let your mind wander. Stroll through your favorite park or museum, and be inspired by your surroundings. Listen to music that elevates your mood, and sing along or dance to it. Drink your favorite tea while you free-associate in your journal or doodle in your sketchbook.
Be sure to show up, and schedule your other commitments around these dates. Remember, if you want to get to know someone better or deepen your relationship with them - including your higher soul - you need to spend time with them. And think what fun you will have on your adventures!
