Summerland
July 2, 2021
“Summer afternoon, summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language."
Henry James
As I open my mind and heart to the fullness of summer on this lovely day, I think it fitting that I am ready to make my seasonal trek to Lily Dale, New York. Lily Dale is my Summerland. It is my Wonderland, my Avalon, my Shambhala.
Even as a child, I could sense grandeur, power, and an “otherworldliness” in Lily Dale’s surrounding Leolyn Woods. It was - and still is - the ultimate Summer Camp; let me tell you why....
Summer camp
The summer camp season begins in late June and runs through Labor Day weekend. There is so much to do! There are two hotels and several private guest houses on the grounds at which you may wish to stay.
There are about forty registered mediums with whom you can schedule a private mediumship reading. There are two eateries, a library, a museum, a bookstore-souvenir shop, and a few retail shops. Enjoy the many parks and gardens, the labyrinth, picnicking in the pavilion, walking the nature trails in the old growth Leolyn woods, sunning and swimming at the Lily Dale beach, and other water activities on the Cassadaga lakes.
Your gate pass includes free attendance at the following daily events: meditation service (in person), video presentation (in person), auditorium service (in person, includes lecture and messages), two healing services (online), and three message services (in person).
Weekly evening events, most of which range in price from free to $20, include: home circles, message circles, astrology circles, development circles, drum circles, and thought exchanges. And sprinkled throughout the summer are ghost walks, concerts, craft sales, and fun fairs.
Additionally, there are well over 100 workshops and special events covering an amazing array of spiritual and metaphysical topics, such as healing practices, channeling and mediumship, divination, and Native American spirituality – most of these range in price from $50 to $100. There is also a Children's Week in July, during which there are classes and events geared specifically for kids – for a mere $10 donation per class and no child is turned away.
Joanne in Lily Dale
If you do plan a visit to Lily Dale this summer, I hope that you will join me for one of my workshops. When I am not teaching, you might find me serving and participating at some of the above-mentioned daily and weekly events, relaxing on the beautiful grounds and local places of interest, or enjoying time with family and friends.
While the Cat's Away...
For those who are staying closer to home this summer, you can join me online for Inner Compass’ monthly development circles and a couple of workshops. And you can schedule an individual distance session any time, whether you want a mediumship reading, intuitive life coaching, deep dive session, or Pranic Healing. And of course you can read about all of our offerings on the online Calendar anytime. I hope that you’ll find something that you feel was created just for you!
