Joyful Service

August 6, 2018

"But all other pleasures and possessions pale into nothingness before service which is rendered in a spirit of joy."

Mahatma Gandhi
It is fortunate that I love my work, because I work a lot. In fact it's hard for me to not work hard. There are lots of reasons for this: I enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done; I easily get into a meditative state when doing simple chores; I was brought up to have a strong work ethic; I like to do my best and if possible, to be the best at what I do.
I also do my best to work smart, so I continually look for ways to be more productive and efficient. In my former professional career, I worked in the IT departments of various telecommunications companies: my career path went from Technical Writer, to Training Developer, to Project Manager, to Senior Manager of Quality Assurance, to Senior Manager of a National Helpdesk that served 6,000 employees across the continental U.S.
With a great team under my direction, our Helpdesk improved by 50 percent in all measured areas of service - by 100 percent in some areas - within six months and with a budget that had been reduced by 25 percent. Those are the facts, and they still astound me. That job was an opportunity of a lifetime; it gave me a chance to prove to myself that I could do anything.
It also burned me out. It prompted me to learn meditation and life coaching skills because of the stresses associated with juggling motherhood and a successful professional career. And then the unexpected happened: my extraordinary experiences with meditation and the power of intention led me to a career change of a higher order. I became a certified clairvoyant medium, an ordained Spiritualist minister, and the founder of Inner Compass, now in its twelfth year of service (2018).
I discovered for myself a vocation that is spiritually fulfilling because I help people to heal and to improve the quality of their lives; a vocation that is exciting because I work in a leading-edge field that is positively affecting the evolution of humanity; a vocation that is fun because it is perfectly suited to my unique combination of skillsets and passions; a vocation that is prosperous because I have become pretty good at it.

Services rendered in a spirit of joy

Recently I have been organizing my summer cottage in Lily Dale, New York - discovering hidden treasures (sweet!) inside cupboards and closets. I've been arranging furniture - and envisioning how I might share this wonderful place with my family and friends in years to come.
I've also been redesigning some key programs at Inner Compass Academy - making exciting upgrades to the Mediumship Mastery Program among others. I've been adding new skills and knowledge to my personal repertoire - and envisioning how to integrate Past-Life Regression and Pranic Healing into my offerings (stay tuned!).
I've continued to fine-tune my spiritual practices - establishing better habits that are already creating satisfying results. I've begun experimenting with a program I designed to immerse myself in the Lily Dale experience - and serving Spirit at the many (many!) message services, healing services, and other community events.
I've also enjoyed some wonderful gatherings with family and friends - putting my mother's ashes to rest, catching up with my son as his feet touched U.S. soil after his overseas deployment with the military, and contributing all kinds of crazy, newly found (formerly hidden!) treasures for the auction/fundraiser at our family reunion: a pendant from the "Jewelry by Jaccolin" personal collection was the biggest-ticket item, but the 18-inch rooster figurine brought some surprisingly serious bids, and there was a near-squabble for the cherry-pie-pan-sans-cherry-pie.

Joyful Service Anywhere, Anytime

If you are planning a summertime visit to Lily Dale, New York, I hope that you will join me for my playshop, "Spiritual Gifts, Creative Callings" - it's the perfect opportunity to explore your true calling and spiritual path. Or for an Astrology Discovery Circle on Family Dynamics that I am co-leading with my daughter, Meredith Melvin. And you might just find me serving Spirit at the aforementioned daily services....
There's also a nice mix of events happening in Cincinnati, Ohio, thanks to our wonderful guest facilitators: Mediumship Development Circle with Michael Schlotterbach, Book Circle for Soul Searchers with Diane Sears, and Soul Circles with Victoria South. I'll be back for a quick weekend to teach our signature workshop series, Spirit Speaks Level 2. And I have just a few available appointments remaining this summer for individual distance Mediumship Readings or Intuitive Coaching Sessions: you can find out what your Higher Self wants your heart and mind to know, so you can take actions to help you achieve your dreams.
Whew! As I mentioned, it's a good thing I love my work so much....
