A Thin Veil
October 18, 2019
“All is well, Halloween is here; souls come to visit, and the living world throws a party to mingle with the dead."
Zsuzsanna Budapest, The Goddess Speaks
The ancients looked to the sky as both clock and calendar. Indigenous peoples lived in accordance with the natural cycles of the earth and held festivals to honor the seasons. The Celts marked Halloween, or Samhain, as the end of the warm season and the gateway to the dark, hidden season of winter - a special time when the boundaries between this world and the unseen worlds could more easily be crossed.
Even in modern Western society, many believe that the "veil between the worlds" is thinnest at this time of year. That communication with one's ancestors and other souls of the departed, as well as beings from other realms - such as the fairy, devic, and angelic kingdoms - is enhanced. That subtle energies can be experienced more readily.
Honor the veil
It's a great time of year to honor your ancestors by creating an impromptu altar in your home. Include photos of friends and family members who have passed into spirit; a candle; a centerpiece of acorns, pinecones and leaves; a trinket inherited from a favorite grandparent - you get the idea.
Or perhaps you've thought about scheduling a mediumship reading - it's a great time of year for it. To make the most of your reading: spend some prayer or meditation time to invite your Spirit loved ones to the session, and to reflect on any situations about which you would like to receive guidance or inspiration.
